Come spend an exciting and festive weekend at Sakura Matsuri: Anime Garden at Gardens by the Bay! Slated for the 17 and 18th of March 2018, the event features celebrity cosplayers, games, Japanese food booths, and cultural programmes! It is also holding a never-before seen free anisong concert headlined by Mika Kobayashi, Mashiro Ayano, GARNiDELiA, May’n, and last but not least, the bright and bubbly Luna Haruna!
WOW Japan is honored to have one of the most popular and busiest anisong singers in Japan, take time out of her packed performance schedule to answer a few questions from us.
Welcome back to Singapore! What are you looking forward to this time around?
When I went to Singapore for an event appearance two years ago, I went sightseeing at Gardens by the Bay during my free time. At the same venue this time around, I am very happy to be appearing in a concert where you can enjoy Japanese anisong, while viewing Japanese cherry blossoms with everyone. I hope to get the chance to enjoy “Sakura Matsuri” at my leisure as well.
We saw your recent performance in Hong Kong and it was wonderful! What were your feelings about that concert?
I sang many theme songs from different animation shows. The audience participation was very similar to Japan, so I felt right at home. The only song I sang that was not an animation theme song was “PURPLE LOVE” (which was included in my third album “LUNARIUM”). At first, the fans just copied other fan’s hand gestures, but by the end of the song everyone was dong such beautiful choregraphy that it made me so happy!
In your last interview with WOW Japan, we talked about your single “KIRAMEKI☆LIFELINE”, and how it is about one of your favourite places in Tokyo: Harajuku. Can you recommend some of your favorite shops in Harajuku?
If you are looking for fashion items, “Laforet HARAJUKU” has everything. They have so many kinds of clothes and accessories from various genres, so you can have a lot of fun even if you can only go for a day. In addition, a shop called “BODYLINE” in Takeshita Street is an affordable Lolita brand, and is recommended for beginners of lolita fashion. Also, the shop “PARK” that was featured in the animation “URAHARA” (where I first tried my hand at voice acting), really exists!. There are goods and products from various creators, and I always spend a lot of time at the shop.
We know you love watching anime during your free time. What new titles are you looking forward to this 2018?
I am looking forward to “Inazuma Eleven Scales of Ares”, which is scheduled to start broadcasting in April. I love watching the “Inazuma Eleven” series, and have seen them all.
