Original character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto gained plenty of reputation when he worked on FLCL. Now, the renowned character designer is returning to the franchise, and he has recently illustrated the new visual for the FLCL 2 and FLCL 3 films
Aside from the new visual, the staff also revealed that they will now sell advance tickets for the films during AnimeJapan. Some of these tickets will come with the “FLCL Freak Set”, which includes a clear file of Sadamoto’s visual, as well as a guitar pick keychain. It will also contain a bonus “Access All Planets Pass” sticker. The event will happen from 24th-25th March. The staff also revealed a few new still images from the upcoming films as well.
While FLCL 2 and FLCL 3 will be acting as a sequel to the OVAs, they will feature separate stories. The FLCL 2 film will be getting its Japanese release sometime in 2018.
