When the summer 2016 season started, many thought that cooking anime, Sweetness and Lightning (Amaama to Inazuma) would be getting overshadowed by a much more well known cooking anime in Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma. However, the anime held its own against the shonen cooking show, and even defeated it in various popularity rankings in Japan.
But did you know that the anime also features real-life locations, which can be found in the city of Musashino in Tokyo prefecture? The city is also the setting of the anime about making an anime, Shorobako, and like Shirobako, the cooking anime also featured plenty of scenery from the city. Thanks to Google Street View, below are side-by-side comparisons between the anime and real life:

Above you could see a “world of legos” based on Tsugumi’s imagination from the OP, and they are actually inspired by real-life locations, such as Skip Street and Musashi-Sakai Station’s entrance. The OP also featured the Musashino Community Center.
Here are the other areas featured in the anime, most particularly Skip Street, where Kotori’s restaurant is supposed to be found, but as noted by Crunchyroll’s Wilhelm Donko, its location probably doesn’t exist in real life. Skip Street is a sprawling commercial street located north of Musashi-Sakai Station.
The anime is not entirely set in Musashino though, as a few scenes have taken place in Shinjuku.
And as the anime takes place in the same location as Shirobako, here are a few comparison shots between the two anime:
