Fans will turn anything into an anime girl… including a random shadow on a wall

We all know that the Japanese turned World War II warships into cute anime girls with Kantai Collection. They also turned car partshot springs, and even motorcycles and Buddhist altars into anime girls. However, sometimes, all it takes to make an anime girl is a random shadow on a wall.

Large anti-government protests sparked in Moscow, Russia last October. Of course, Japanese news picked the news up. However, the news footage featured a statue which had a peculiar shadow. That statue honors Marshal Georgy Zhukov, the Russian general who led Soviet forces to many victories against the Nazis in World War II. However, the legendary general also seems to have a twin-tailed anime girl as a shadow. Of course, this inspired a lot of fanarts from anime fans.

Twitter user @LazyWorkz tweeted out the images, and they went viral. And the shadow girl even became so popular that some fans suggested nicknames. Currently, the most popular seems to be Nikko Nikolai. This is probably because the shadow looks like Love Live’s Nico Yazawa and the name sounds Russian.

As for Marshal Zhukov’s statue, you can find it over at Red Square in Moscow.
