During the broadcast of Fuji TV’s early morning show, Mezamashi TV, it was revealed that the popular anime tearjerker, AnoHana: The Flower We Saw That Day (Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai), will be getting a live-action TV drama adaptation in Japan, which Fuji TV will be airing later this year.
The cast for that live-action TV special have also been revealed with the role of MenMa (Meiko Honma) being played by 14-year old actress, Minami Hamabe. Meanwhile Jinta “Jintan” Yadomi, leader of the Super Peace Busters, will be played by 18-year old Nijirou Murakami, who has a showbiz pedigree as he is the son of popular Japanese singer, UA, and actor Jun Murakami.
Yuuta Takahita playing the role of Tetsudou Hisakawa, while Airi Matsui will be playing the role of Naruko Anjou. The roles of Atsumo Matsuyuki and Chiriko Tsurumi will be played by Jun Shison and Marie Iitoyo respectively.
From the looks of the images, it seems that like the anime, the live-action TV drama special will be set in the city of Chichibu in Saitama Prefecture. Since the original anime premiered back in 2011, Chichibu has become a tourist destination for many anime fans around the world and is regarded as an “anime holy land”.
