The National Art Center in Roppongi, Tokyo will play host to an unprecedented collaboration with popular manga artist Hirohiko Araki — best known for his work “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure”. Titled “Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition: Ripples of Adventure”, the exhibition will run from 24th August to 1st October 2018.
A special event was held yesterday — 21st June 2018, to announce the exhibition. It was attended by Araki himself, as well as Takeshi Aoki (National Art Center Director), Shinichi Hirono (Shueisha Managing Director), Takako Masumi (Director of Education for the National Art Center), and Yusuke Sugai (Shueisha Contents Division)
Araki said in his speech at the event, “Thirty years have passed since the serialization of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure began. This exhibition is the culmination of our previous work… The exhibition is free to everyone younger than junior high students, so we’d like to invite everyone to come. The original illustrations are always a little bit different from the printed works. I hope young people find original ideas for study and work based on their feelings about the original illustrations. This is my secret hope.”.
