The spring anime Shokugeki no Soma has unveiled the voice cast for participants in the 92nd Toutsuki Autumn Election, a highly anticipated cooking competition among the top 80 first-year students. This intense showdown aims to establish the rankings of these culinary prodigies.
At the forefront is seasoned voice actor Junichi Suwabe (Ren Jinguji from Uta no Prince-sama), who will bring to life Akira Hayama, a standout participant in the election.
Joining him is Nao Sadatsuka, the eerie “Nabe no mae no majo” of Toutsuki Culinary Academy, voiced by Saori Gotou (Plue from Fairy Tail).
Adding to the mix is Miyoko Hojou, the heir to the prestigious Chinese restaurant Houjourou, portrayed by Asami Seto (Chihaya Ayase from Chihayafuru).
Shokugeki no Soma, written by Yuuto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki, debuted in Weekly Shounen Jump in November 2012.
The series follows Souma Yukihira (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka), a middle school student who dreams of surpassing his father’s culinary skills and taking over their family restaurant, Yukihira.
Despite hosting daily cooking duels with his father, Jouichirou Yukihira (voiced by Rikiya Koyama), Souma consistently faces defeat.
One day, Jouichirou enrolls him in the prestigious Toutsuki Culinary Academy, a top-tier culinary school infamous for its brutal 10% graduation rate.
Souma’s father challenges him to graduate and return stronger to settle their culinary rivalry once and for all.
This two-cour anime adaptation premiered on April 4, 2015, and continues to captivate audiences with its blend of intense culinary battles, vibrant characters, and a dash of humor.
