  • Mamoru Hosoda’s Mirai anime film receives Golden Globes nomination

The Golden Globes is one of the most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry. It doesn’t just cover films, but television as well. And now, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the nominees for the 76th Annual Golden Globes. This year’s nominees have plenty of huge surprises, including Black Panther for Best Picture. However, for the Best Motion Picture – Animated category, one Japanese animated film actually made it, and it’s Mamoru Hosoda’s Mirai!

The film has a good chance to win now that it’s nominated, but it’s up against some tough competition. The other nominees for the category include The Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Yeah, those are two huge Disney movies blocking Mirai’s path to victory, but then again, Disney wasn’t able to stop Hayao Miyazaki from winning an Oscar back in 2003…

The 76th Annual Golden Globes awarding ceremony will happen on 6 January 2018 in Hollywood.
