Scream Asia Film Festival will screen a total of 11 feature films and 1 short film from Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, UK and USA. These films were selected by Singaporean filmmaker Eric Khoo and South Korean film programmer Jongsuk Thomas Nam.

“Hana” by Mai Nakanishi and “Tokyo Living Dead Idol” by Yuki Kumagai will be representing Japan, which has shocked the world with its unique combination of urban horror and psychological drama. In “Hana”, Sujin is a college student interviewed by Mrs. Lee, a working single mother who needs a babysitter to look after her 4 year-old daughter Hana. But soon after Sujin is left alone in the house with Hana, strange things start to happen.

Meanwhile, in “Tokyo Living Dead Idol”, an idol is bitten by a zombie and before she is taken into custody, she runs away. She only has 72 hours left until she becomes zombified, so she tries to find the anti-zombie serum, but a high school girl zombie hunter and other zombies attack her. Will she make it to the destination within the time limit?

Scream Asia Film Festival will also be organising two masterclasses taught by acclaimed horror filmmakers Joko Anwar and Yeon Sang-ho. Joko Anwar directed Satan’s Slaves (2018), which became the highest grossing Indonesian horror film of all time and the highest grossing Indonesian film of 2017.

Yeon Sang-ho directed Train to Busan (2016), which premiered in the Midnight Screenings section of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and became the highest-grossing Korean film in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The festival will also present a special screening of a past film by Yeon Sang-ho.
