  • “Hypnosis Mic” is Getting a Mobile Game in 2019 and Fans Go Crazy!

Just barely past a year since its launch on 4 September 2017, the hit Japanese rap-music and drama-CD series “Hypnosis Mic” (AKA ‘HypMic’ in short) is getting a mobile game!!

For those uninitiated in this fandom, ‘HypMic’ is a mix-media franchise consisting of a series of CD with rap-music and drama-story tracks. The plot is set in a dystopian near-future where women lead the government and men are the underdogs who follow orders. As guns and other weapons are no longer available, territorial fights must take the form of rap battles. Units representing regions are known as ‘divisions’ and battles are carried out in stages where respective divisions fight it out using rap music. The series features 12 male seiyuus; and has became so popular albeit its rather short period in existence that it already has numerous collaborations with external media/third-party partners; and more were just announced at their recent 2nd Live @ Shinagawa!

And yet despite this fast and furious shotgun success and gain in popularity, HypMic fans all over Japan and across the world were still caught by pleasant surprise when it was announced during the Otomate Party 2018 that happened across the span of last weekend (8 ~ 9 September 2018) in Tokyo that the popular rap music franchise will be entering a further collaboration with major otome-game developer/distributor Otomate and a mobile-app game project is in the works!!

The HypMic game will be available across compatible iOs and Android mobile devices and is slated for release in 2019. Furthermore, the developers are aiming to make the game free-to-download for all interested players/fans (information accurate at point of announcement)! A promotional teaser video featuring seiyuu and rapper Subaru Kimura in his character was MC B.B – leader of the Ikebukuro Division ‘Buster Bros’- was officially revealed along with the announcement:

At the same time, HypMic’s official twitter account also concurrently posted pictorial cuts from the promotional video of the four Divisions along with the pleasantly surprising news.
