  • Wheelchair-bound Tomoka Igari Returns to “Kamen Joshi” Activities

In a moving story of courage in the face of tragedy, wheelchair-bound “Kamen Joshi” (“Mask Girls”) member Tomoka Igari will restart her entertainment career by the end of August 2018. She had been out of commission for four months, to recover from injuries that had sent her to the ICU.

Tomoka Igari’s budding idol career as part of the hockey mask-wearing girl group was brutally interrupted, when she was hit by a heavy billboard that had become unmoored, during an unusually gusty day in Tokyo in April 2018. She was on her way to dance class. The accident left her with a broken leg, broken ribs, and permanent spinal injuries — she is now paralyzed in both legs.

In spite of it all, “Kamen Joshi” fans and its management agency Alice Project have rallied behind Igari, with fans clamoring for her return to the group, and the agency making special arrangements to accommodate her needs. The spirited young performer will finally be able to join her fellow idols at the special “Kamen Joshi” Cafe, and at the Kyocera Dome for the Orix Buffaloes baseball match versus the Saitama Seibu Lions.

We wish her all the best!
