  • Strike Witches franchise gets not one, but three new anime!

Strike Witches recently held their 10th anniversary event in Tokyo, and they just dropped several huge bombshells. To be exact, they dropped three… three new anime! They revealed that Makoto Fujibayashi’s Strike Witches 501 Butai Hasshinshimasu! TV anime is getting an anime adaptation. The manga follows the infamous 501st, AKA the Strike Witches.

The manga follows the daily lives of the 501st while they’re not fighting the Neuroi. They also announced that the anime project will launch sometime in 2019. Much of the original cast members from the Strike Witches TV anime are also reprising their roles for the new series as well:

    • Misato Fukuen as Yoshika Miyafuji
    • Saori Seto as Mio Sakamoto
    • Kaori Nazuka as Lynette Bishop
    • Miyuki Sawashiro as Perrine H. Clostermann
    • Rie Tanaka as Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke
    • Mie Sonozaki as Gertrud Barkhorn
    • Sakura Nogawa as Erica Hartmann
    • Chiwa Saito as Francesca Lucchini
    • Ami Koshimizu as Charlotte E. Yeager
    • Mai Kadowaki as Sanya V. Litvyak
    • Ayuru Oohashi as Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen

And speaking of the 501st, they’re also returning to the main story with the new TV anime, Strike Witches: Road to Berlin. Kazuhiro Takamura is returning to direct the series at David Production, with the above-mentioned cast also reprising their roles. The anime will return in 2020, and the staff revealed a PV, as well as a teaser visual.

Finally, the staff revealed the third anime, which is titled Idol Witches. It’s safe to say that this new TV anime won’t be following the 501st this time. And as the title suggests, it’s basically an idol series within the Strike Witches universe. In fat, it follows a unique witch squadron that “does not fight”.

Idol Witches will feature… well… idol witches who sing to displaced people who were driven out of their homes by Neuroi, as well as those who are beleaguered by war. The project will debut in 2021, and will feature the following cast members:

    • Ami Aimoto as Lyudmila Andreyevna Rouslanova
    • Mai Narumi as Virginia Robertson
    • Minako Hosogawa as Inori Shibuya

And since the franchise is celebrating a huge milestone, all three new anime are part of the franchise’s 10th anniversary project. Expect the staff to make more announcements about these three new anime soon, so stay tuned.
