During Anime Expo 2018, Netflix certainly made their presence felt. • Kengan Ashura: Later this year
    • Dragon Pilot: 21st September
    • Cannon Busters: 1st March 2019

The second Godzilla film will of course continue where the first film, Planet of Monsters, left off. However, this time, Godzilla is about to take on the might of Mecha Godzilla! Gen “Urobutcher” Urobuchi is once again writing the story for the film, while Polygon Pictures is also returning for animation production.

Meanwhile, Dragon Pilot follows  Hisone Amakasu,a Self-Defense Force rookie stationed at the Air Self-Defense Force’s Gifu Base. She struggles with the fact that she sometimes hurts people unintentionally by her innocent words and decides to join the Air Self-Defence Force, hoping to maintain a certain distance from people. This decision leads her to a fateful encounter that profoundly changes her life. Hisone meets the “OTF” (Organic Transformed Flyer) dragon hidden in the base, and it chooses Hisone as its pilot. When it soars into the sky with Hisone, her fate as a dragon pilot is decided. It is said that dragons have a key to the future of the world…

Manga Entertainment, Nada Holdings, and anime studio Satelight is producing LeSean Thomas’ Cannon Busters animated series. The anime comes from the successful Kickstarter project, which LeSean Thomas is also directing.

And finally, Kengan Ashura is based on Yabako Sandrovich’s manga of the same name. In the manga’s story, businesses and merchants wager large sums of money to hire combatants for unarmed hand-to-hand fighting matches. The winner takes all in these Kengan competitions that originated during the Edo period. Merchants use the fights as a means to resolve disputes with each other.

Now those are some pretty interesting series, huh? Don’t forget that Netflix still has a few more anime coming up, such as the new Saint Seiya anime, as well as Rillakuma. And right now, their anime library is already looking packed, with originals like Fate/Apocrypha, Kakegurui, and many more.
