“Onmyoji” – the 3D RPG-Fantasy mobile game developed and launched by China-based company NetEase Games Inc. – featuring the adventures of Abe no Seimei (an actual historical personality) set in the mythical world of Japanese “youkai” (demons) tales and lores during the Heian Era. Players acquire and train their ‘shikigami’ (spiritual familiars) and engage in team/guild-based stage battles.
The game features beautiful in-game graphics and a stellar Japanese voice cast. Service launched in late-2016 to China and Taiwan-servers; and quickly became a smash hit among mobile gaming fans – resulting in the launch of its Japanese server in early-2017, and English localised version later in the same year – quickly soaring in the popularity ranks amongst mobile games and currently boasts more than 200 million downloads worldwide.
