  • [WOW Japan x C3 AFA Hong Kong] An Exclusive Q&A with Shiena Nishizawa

Slated for the 9th until the 11th of February 2018, C3 AFA Hong Kong is kicking off its maiden event in a big way with the first ever I Love Anisong Hong Kong concert! Making her C3 AFA Hong Kong debut, put your hands together for the talented young rocker Shiena Nishizawa!

In 2014, she won the grand prize at the Flying Dog Audition (a popular singing contest). In 2015, her debut song, “Fubuki”was released as a single that same year. She was 17 at the time. On 15th March 2017, Shiena released her first full-length album, entitled “Break Your Fate”. A class live act, Shiena has toured extensively to promote “Break Your Fate”. Despite her hectic schedule, she managed to find the time to answer a few questions from WOW Japan!

Happy New Year! Please share with us one of your New Year’s Resolutions.

I am going to be 21 years old this year, so I want to be a calm and mature about my music. I am looking forward to the rest of the year very much!

You have been to Hong Kong before. What are you looking forward to with your return?

This is actually my second time in Hong Kong! It’s been a while so I looking forward to it very much. I was able to go and view the night scenery the last time I was here, so I hope I have another opportunity to take my time in seeing it again.

Please tell us a little bit about your new single “LOVE MEN HOLIC”. What was the most fun part about making the single? On the other hand, what was the most challenging part?

The answer to the first part is a bit tricky… I enjoyed the composition part. There is a new anime called “Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles” (Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san) and the song has been selected as the ending theme, so I researched about ramen for the lyrics.

Since the song lyrics are in the Japanese language, I look forward to fans of ramen figuring out the secret terms hidden in the song♪

For the challenging part, we ran into some slight difficulties during the recording.
The song has to be sung in a sort-of rap style, and I wasn’t able to sing as I had imagined it in my head, so we had to try a couple of times.

It was really challenging, but it was also a great experience, so it’s all good!

We know your singing career has been very busy lately, so what do you do to relax? Do you have any recommendations we can try?

Hahahaha I am too busy for that! But I like to relax by lighting aromatherapy incense before bed. I highly recommend it♪

Please give a message to your fans in Hong Kong.

I am very much looking forward to seeing you all. Since the last time I played live in Hong Kong, I have had a lot of new songs, so I’m very happy if you could give it a listen! For the people who haven’t seen me in a while, and for the people who are coming to my live for the first time, we’ll have a hot rocking stage, so please wait for me!!
