Grape-kun has captured the hearts of the internet after becoming attacked to a cardboard cutout of his species’ own Friends counterpart. Tobu Zoo itself made a mini shrine for fans to leave flowers. It also featured artworks from fans who grew to love the Humboldt Penguin. Even Mine Yoshizaki, Kemono Friends’ character designer, contributed an artwork.

Now, fans all over the world mourned the loss, and posted tributes all over social media.
