  • Photos of the RX-78-2 Gundam being dismantled surface, mimic “Last Shooting”

The iconic RX-78-2 Gundam statue in front of Diver City Tokyo in Odaiba has become an iconic tourist spot. Truly the end of an era, huh? The Odaiba icon has stood in front of Diver City Tokyo since 2012, and has proven to be one of the island’s most endearing figures. The workers also made a fitting tribute to the Gundam as they constructed it. First, they took the left arm, and then they took off the head. This is to mimic what the RX-78-2 looked like during that epic “Last Shooting” scene from the anime.

But fans should’t worry though. This is because the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam will be replacing the RX-78-2 later this year.
