  • Yotsuba&! mangaka Kiyohiko Azuma illustrates Wonder Festival’s Ice-Skating Mascots

Renowned mangaka, Kiyohiko Azuma, is returning to illustrate the new visual for the bi-annual Wonder Festival event. With the surging popularity of figure skating thanks to a certain skating anime, the theme for this visual is ice skating.

WonFes mascots Wanda-chan and Reset-chan don their skates in this latest visual. They also revealed that the event will be held on 19 February 2017. The Makuhari Messe in Chiba will once again be serving as the event’s venue.

The visual’s illustrator, Kiyohiko Azuma, is best known for Azumanga Daioh. He is also responsible for introducing us to Danboard in Youtsuba&!. He has served as the official WonFes illustrator after the original illustrator, Keinojou Mizutama, passed away back in 2014.

As for Wonder Festival itself, it’s a bi-annual event celebrating figures and garage kits. Many also consider WonFes as the largest garage kit event in Japan. Large figure companies like Good Smile Company, Kotobukiya, and Alter, are also expected to participate this time.
