    Ever want to make an anime-themed bento, just like the ones you usually see on the internet? Here’s your chance to get to try making one yourself with a new One Punch Man bento recipe courtesy of animeanime.jp. So get your knives, aprons, and stomachs ready, because here is the recipe:

    Ketchup Rice portion:

    • 1.5 cups of rice (judging from the image, they are using Japanese short grain rice)
    • 2.5 tablespoons of ketchup
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    Usayuki Eggs (separated egg yolks and whites, which have been cooked separately) for the body (yolks) and cape (whites)

    • 2 Eggs (separated egg white and egg yolk)
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    Ketchup Jelly for the gloves

    • 3 tablespoons of ketchup
    • 3 1/3oz of water
    • 1/2 tsp Gelatin (If you don’t like using gelatin, alternatives like arrowroot can be used)

    Face detailing:

    • piece of ham of the mouth
    • pieces of nori (Japanese seaweed flakes) for some details
    • pieces of cheese for the eyes

    Garnishes/ Sides:

    • 1/2 slice chicken breast meat
    • 1 Tbsp Sake
    • 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
    • 2cm garlic tube
    • Lettuce and tomatoes

    And now let’s start cooking!

    Usayuki Eggs:

    Cooking them is very much like cooking those Japanese-style omelettes, except you don’t roll them. In a pan, you separately cook the whites and the yolks, and be careful not to burn or overcook them, because they will destroy the look later on. They should be able to look like this before cutting them up to form Saitama’s body and cape:

    Ketchup Jelly:

    Over low heat, dissolve the gelatin and add ketchup, and cool in a plastic-lined container. Place in the fridge.

    Ketchup Rice:

    Heat pan and add oil. When oil is hot, add rice, and then the ketchup. Don’t forget to season it with salt and pepper. Since this is basically fried rice, I would like to add that make sure that the rice has been cooled and separated, and not warm or freshly cooked.

    Chicked to be used as garnish:

    Mix sake, soy sauce, and garlic, and marinate chicken with it, and knead thoroughly to make sure chicken has been coated. Pan fry in oil until brown and cooked.

    Decorating:

    Start off by filling 1/3 of a clean and empty bento box with the ketchup rice. Use knives (preferably a paring knife) or kitchen scissors to cut the cheese, ham, and the eggs, which will be used for garnish and then use them to decorate. Use the fried Usayuki yolks as Saitama’s yellow costume suit, while the whites as his freely-flowing cape. Also cut up the ketchup jelly to be used as his iconic red gloves. Use the nori flakes to outline his face, and use the other pieces like the ham and cheese to complete the face, as well as add the “fist” details on his glove.
