Aside from the characters we love from the live-action movies, anime and manga like Kenshin, Kaoru, Sanosuke, and others, the play also features Sozaburo Kano, a real-life samurai who fought for the Shinsengumi along with Saito Hajime. Kano is not found in the live-action movies, anime, or manga, and he will be making his debut for the series in this play.

    Cast:

    • Kenshin Himura: Sagiri Seina
    • Kaoru Kamiya: Miyu Sakihi
    • Kano Sozaburo: Nozomi Fuuto
    • Sanosuke Sagara: Houshou Dai
    • Megumi Takani: Daigo Seshiru
    • Miyagi Takeda: Sho Ayanagi
    • Saito Hajime: Sakina Ayakaze
    • Aoshi Shinomori: Tsukishiro Kanato

This all-female Rurouni Kenshin stage play by the Takarazuka Revue has been slated to be performed at the Grand Theater from 5 February until 14 March 2016, before heading to the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater from 1 April until 8 May 2016.

The Rurouni Kenshin anime itself has roots in the Takarazuka Revue, as Kenshin “Battousai” Himura’s seiyuu herself, Mayo Suzukaze is a veteran member of the troupe where she acted as the lead role of Oscar in the live-action adaptation of the Rose of Versailles.
