  • [ANIME] Project Itoh Film series cast and trailer unveiled!

    Early last year we have shared news that the Novels from the author Project Itoh would be animated by various animation studios at a Noitama event. As of today, all three of Project Itoh’s novels have finally been unveiled proper along with a cast announcement and a trailer. These three films will be released at theaters later this year starting from October 2nd for a span of three months. Here’s the three films by release order:

    The Empire of Corpses

    The Empire of Corpses, is set in late 19th century Europe where a technology allows dead bodies to be reanimated with an artificial souls named Frankensteins meant for labor works, leading to a industrial revolution across the Western World. It stars a young medical student from London named John H. Watson, is scouted to be a secret agent in order to infiltrate Afghahistan as an army medic. He discovers that the Frankensteins are being used in huge numbers for military purposes in Afghanistan. He also becomes aware of the existence of “The One”, the very first creature created 100 years ago by the scientist Victor Frankenstein. It is somewhere alive in the world and orchestrating some sort of plot. Watson travels to Meiji Retoration Japan to meet up with Hadaly of the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Joining her in the pursuit of The One, they head for America.

    This was Project Itoh’s last novel. The general plot and the beginning was written by him while fellow writer Enjou Toh finished the remaining sections. WIT STUDIO is in charge of animating The Empire of Corpses with EGOIST in charge of the theme song titled Door. Here is cast for The Empire of Corpses:

    Continuing on we have the second movie scheduled for release on November 13th, Genocidal Organ.

    Who can win in a war of all against all? The war on terror exploded, literally, the day Sarajevo was destroyed by a homemade nuclear device. The leading democracies have transformed into total surveillance states, and the developing world has drowned under a wave of genocides. The mysterious American John Paul seems to be behind the collapse of the world system, and it’s up to intelligence agent Clavis Shepherd to track John Paul across the wreckage of civilizations, and to find the true heart of darkness – a genocidal organ.

    Genocidal Organ was Project Itoh’s debut novel which won the Best of SF award in 2007. This second film is set to be made by manglobe while EGOIST once again will do the theme song, titled Reloaded. Here are the cast of Genocidal Organ:

    And lastly, releasing on the 4th of December is Harmony.

    In the future, Utopia has finally been achieved thanks to medical nanotechnology and a powerful ethic of social welfare and mutual consideration. This perfect world isn’t that perfect though, and three young girls stand up to totalitarian kindness and super-medicine by attempting suicide via starvation. It doesn’t work, but one of the girls–Tuan Kirie–grows up to be a member of the World Health Organization. As a crisis threatens the harmony of the new world, Tuan rediscovers another member of her suicide pact, and together they must help save the planet…from itself.

    Harmony was Project Itoh’s final novel he personally written in 2008. This last film will be produced by STUDIO 4℃, with the theme song again done by EGOIST, titled Ghost of a smile. Here is the cast of Harmony:

    I hope you guys are excited for these films! These three films have already been confirmed for an American release sometime in the future, I hope it will also be aired in Singapore soon enough. As a huge fan of Project Itoh, and Genocidal Organ in particular, I cannot wait for November to arrive to enjoy the film.
