Ahhhh Mako, some find her annoying, but many just love her! But according to the guy who made the character designs for Kill la Kill, Sushio, there’s much more to her than meets the eye. The renowned illustrator recently published his own book, KLKL, and told a beautiful backstory for the lovable Mako, which any Kill la Kill fan should never miss.
Known as Mako Monogatari, Sushio tells of Mako’s story, from the time she was a newborn baby to meeting Ryuko for the very first time. Get your tissues ready because this one will be touching:
Sorry, I just have something stuck in my eyes, and no, I’m definitely not tearing up!
Sushio is known for being the character designer for Kill la Kill, but he’s also worked on several anime as a key animator (Digimon Tamers, Rebuild of Evangelion, and Gurren Lagann), as well as a very successful animation director (The [email protected], Panty and Stocking, and Sakura Wars: The Movie).
