• [SEIYUU] Seiyuu unit Aice⁵ reunites and Appears as guest characters for Sore Ga Seiyuu!

Back in 2005, Yui Horie, Akemi Kanda, Masumi Asano, Chiaki Takahashi, and Madoka Kimura formed the seiyuu unit known as Aice⁵. Unfortunately, they disbanded in 2007. A decade after the group’s formation, they are getting back together and have announced that they will be releasing a new single which is yet to be titled.

The reunion is to celebrate the vocal unit’s 10th anniversary, which also includes their recently-announced special guest appearance in the anime adaptation of member Masumi Asano’s popular manga about the life of a seiyuu, Sore Ga Seiyuu!.

All five seiyuus will be appearing as themselves in the anime, which previously featured other big name seiyuus as guest stars in the anime. In episode 1, Masako Nozawa (Dragon Ball’s Son Goku, Son Gohan, and Son Goten) made an appearance as herself and gave some veteran advice to her newbie costars in the anime, thus making main character, Futaba Ichinose, go full fangirl.

Episode 2 meanwhile featured Hiroshi Kamiya (Attack on Titan’s Levi and Durarara!!’s Izaya Orihara) as himself. In that episode, he proudly showed off his pet cat to an already-flustered Futaba, who also happens to belong to the same agency as him. I wonder what will happen if Aice⁵ shows up, especially when their creator herself is a member?

Since their formation back in 2005, Aice⁵ has released one album and six singles, including “Love Power”, which is the OP song for the genderbender anime, Otoboku – Maidens Are Falling for Me!. Their new single will be their seventh one together and will feature three songs.

Meanwhile, the Aice⁵ All Songs Collection “Sore ga Seiyū! Record CD will be going on sale during Comiket 88  over at the Sore Ga Seiyuu! booth. The five members will also be featured as their anime counterparts in a booklet, which will be coming bundled with it. The booklet will also come with interviews

The anime is based on the 4-koma manga written by actual seiyuu, Masumi Asano  and illustrated by Hayate the Combat Butler! mangaka, Kenjiro Hata. The anime also has plenty of connections with Hayate the Combat Butler! as both Hitomi Nabatame and Kenta Miyake (who also voices the senior butler, Klaus) are part of the anime’s cast.
