  • [MANGA] Little Witch Academia gets two new manga series

    Studio Trigger’s Little Witch Academia may only be an animated short film, but it has touched the hearts of many across the world in a short amount of time. And now, fans have more reason to be happy because it will get not one, but two new manga adaptations.

    The first series will be serialized in Shueisha’s shoujo magazine, Ribbon, which announced that  Little Witch Academia: Tsukiyo no Ookan (Crown of Midnight) will be premiering inside their pages on their next issue, set of release on 3 September. This new manga will be illustrated by Yuka Fujiwara, who is best known for her manga, Crash!. Trigger’s Yoh Yoshinari, the director of both the anime and its sequel, is credited as the original creator.

    Meanwhile, another Shueisha manga magazine, Ultra Jump, will also be doing their own Little Witch Academia manga series, though this one will be a “short intensive” manga which will run for a limited time beginning with their September 2015 edition, which is due out on 19 September. Terio Teri, who previously done another Little Witch Academia manga, will also be charged with making this new series a success. This Ultra Jump manga will have an original story, and it credits Studio Trigger as the creator.

    The sequel, titled Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, premiered last 3 July 2015 at Los Angeles during the city’s annual Anime Expo. Trigger’s now-famous animated short made its debut during the 2013 edition of the Anime Mirai, and it became an instant hit. Because of its popularity, people wanted a sequel, and thanks to a crowdfunding project on Kickstarter, Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade is now made possible as the movie reached its US$15,000 goal is just 6 hours.
