One of this year’s most unexpected crossovers is the upcoming Cyborg 009 VS Devilman movie, which will premiere in Japan on October 2015. The official website for the upcoming anime movie has been updated, announcing three new characters who will be part of the Devilman side.
The legendary Devilman himself, Akira Fudou, will be voiced by Shintaro Asanuma (Nishiki Nishio in Tokyo Ghoul and Takatoshi Tsuda in Seitokai Yakuindomo). Here are his new character designs just for the movie:
Meanwhile, the role of Miki Makimura, Akira Fudou’s childhood friend, will be voiced by none other than Saori Hayami (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU’s Yukino Yukinoshita and OreImo’s Ayase Aragaki).
And finally, voicing the role of Ryou Asuka, Akira Fudou’s best friend responsible for turning him into Devilman, will be Satoshi Hino (Bakuman’s Akito Takagi and Haikyuu!!’s Daichi Sawamura).
The three will make up the main characters for the Devilman side of the movie’s titular conflict. No cast announcements for the Cyborg 009 side have been officially announced thus far.
With the tagline “Who will survive…?”, the anime movie is slated to premiere this October 2015 for a limited time of two weeks. The story will follow the meeting between Cyborg 009 main character, Joe Shimamura and Devilman main character, Akira Fudou, and as the title and the tagline suggests, it won’t be a peaceful one. Devilman creator, Go Nagai himself, has acknowledged that both series are “like oil and water” as they simply do not mix at all, however, this is really happening and there is much excitement for this movie as many are excited to see the two classics collide
