  • The Winners of PlayStation Awards 2016

    Last night, Sony awarded some of the consoles’ best performing games at their annual awards ceremony. While most of the games are some of the biggest titles PlayStation has to offer at the moment, the public’s favourite games were also recognised for their achievements.

    Coming in different categories, these awards highlight some of the greatest achievements these games have earned from the period of 1st of October 2015 to 30th September 2016.

    Gold Prize

    Awarded to the games which have had over 500,000 sales in Japan and the rest of Asia. These sales include both physically shipped copies as well as their digitally downloaded counterparts. Winners of the prize were also awarded 500, 000 yen (6,178.94 SGD).

    This year the Gold Prize was awarded to:

    • Dark Souls III
    • The Last of Us Remastered
    • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
    • The Witcher 3
    • Call of Duty: Black Ops III
    • Jikkyo Powerful Pro Yakyu 2016
    • Sword Art Online: Lost Song
    • Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End
    • Dragon Quest Builders
    • Persona 5

    The PlayStation Network award

    Awarded for the biggest earners on Japan’s PlayStation Network’s online store.

    This year the PlayStation Network Award went to:

    • Pro Evolution Soccer 2016
    • Dragon’s Dogma Online
    • Phantasy Star Online 2

    The User’s Choice Award

    Given to the games which garnered the most votes in Asia.

    This year the User’s Choice Award went to:

    • Bloodborne: The Old Hunters
    • Dark Souls III
    • Fallout 4
    • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
    • Overwatch
    • Call of Duty: Black Ops III
    • Dragon Quest Builders
    • Persona 5
    • Yakuza: Kiwami
    • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

    The PlayStation VR Special Award

    This year, to mark the release of the PlayStation VR, a special award was given out to games who made a contribution to the development of the VR experience.

    The PlayStation VR Special Award went to:

    • Northern Lights
    • PlayStation VR Worlds
    • Rez Infinite
    • Summer Lesson
    • Hatsune Miku VR Future Live

    The Indie Special Award

    Indie games were not to be forgotten, outstanding indie games received too, a special award:

    The Indie Special Award winners were:

    • Downwell
    • Goat Simulator
    • Salt and Sanctuary
    • Adventures of Scarlet Curiosity
    • Rocket League
