The official website reveals supporting cast and characters for the new －Free! Starting Days－movie. Kouki Uchiyama, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, Satoshi Hino and Kenji Nojima will join previously announced cast of Nobunaga Shimazaki (Shinnosuke Aikawa in Gin No Sagi), who is reprising his role as Haruka Nanase and Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Ryō in Tokyo Ghoul:Jack)as Makoto Tachibana.
The four announced casts will play poignant characters in the lives of our protagonists, Makoto and Haru and in the Iwatobi Middle School swim club.
Leading the pack is Kenji Nojima (Nobuchika Ginoza in Psycho-Pass), who will voice Iwatobi Middle School swim club captain and third year student, Natsuya Kirishima and Satoshi Hino (Hayato Shinkai in Yowamushi Pedal) who will voice Nao Serizawa, a third year middle school student who serves as Natsuya’s trusted friend and also as Haru and Makoto’s swimming instructor.
First year student, Ikuya Kirishima, who specializes in breaststroke and whose brother just happens to be the captain of the swim club, will be voiced by Kouki Uchiyama (Yū Otosaka in Charlotte), and fellow first year student specializing in butterfly stroke, Asahi Shiina, will be voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga(Hideyoshi Nagachika in Tokyo Ghoul).
Fans rejoice! As the yet-to-named movie theme song will be sung by OLDCODEX and its single will be released on 16 December 2015, along with the movie’s original soundtrack.
The movie is set a few years back from the timeline of the Free! TV series.Makoto (CV:Tatsuhisa Suzuki) and Haru(CV:Nobunaga Shimazaki) are middle schoolers at Iwatobi Middle School and had just joined the school’s swim team. They’re still reeling from their win at the Iwatobi Swim Club‘s medley race, and they have decided to form a team with Asahi Shiina(CV:Toshiyuki Toyonaga) and Ikuya Kirishima(CV:Kouki Uchiyama) to compete on the next medley race. With the boys having some difference in opinions, will they be able to come together and be a team?
High Speed! is a light novel written by Kouji Ouji. It garnered an honorable mention from the Kyoto Animation Awards in 2011, and was subsequently turned into an anime, Free!. The anime is loosely based on the light novel and features the story of Nanase Haruka, and his swimming buddies during their secondary school days. The first season aired on the summer of 2013, while the second season also aired on the summer the following year.
The movie is set to premiere on 5 December 2015.
