  • [MANGA] Yu-Gi-Oh! mangaka Kazuki Takahashi receives Inkpot Award during San Diego Comic Con

    After appearing in the 4K Media Inc panel during San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) and announcing details on the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! movie, Yu-Gi-Oh! mangaka Kazuki Takahashi received a huge honor during the event as he was awarded with the Inkpot Award.

    The Inkpot Award is given to individuals who have “outstanding contributions to comics, science fiction and fantasy, film, television, animation, and fandom.”

    In a statement by Takahashi during the event, he said: “I am deeply honored to receive Comic-Con’s Inkpot Award and am humbled to be held in the same regard as the revered animators, authors, filmmakers and artists that have been recognized for their passion and contributions to the arts.”

    The Inkpot award has been bestowed annually during SDCC since 1974, and it is considered to be a great honor to be awarded with one. Among the many greats to have received this award are George Lucas (Star Wars and Indiana Jones), Steven Spielberg (E.T. and Jurassic Park), George R. R. Martin (Game of Thrones), Jim Lee (Batman comic book artist), Neil Gaiman (The Sandman and Coraline), Alan Moore (Watchmen and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), and Frank Miller (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and 300). The Japanese winners of this award include Hayao Miyazaki (My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away), Monkey Punch (Lupin III mangaka), Rumiko Takahashi (Ranma 1/2, InuYasha, Urusei Yatsura, and Rinne mangaka), Tite Kubo (Bleach mangaka), and Naoko Takeuchi (Sailor Moon mangaka)
