• [SEIYUU] Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! presents photobook starring cast members

You’ve heard of the “Mahou Shoujo” or magical girls, but have you ever seen “Mahou Shounen“? This is the concept of the ongoing Winter 2015 anime, Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! (Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE!)! Just like any magical girl franchise, this comedic anime series is complete with the pre-requisite colour-coded costumes, transformation scenes, secret code names, down to the cheesy battle lines.  They even have their own fluffy animal mascot in the form of a pink furry wombat.

    Battle Lovers in Action

In this new original series by director Shinji Takamatsu, the director behind Gintama, Ixion Saga DT and Daily Lives of High School Boys (Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou), the main cast is formed by a group of relative newcomers, young and fast gaining a reputation for not only being easy on the ears, but also a visual treat for the eyes.

The main five members of the Earth Defence Club (地球防衛部 Chikyuu Boueibu) are voiced by: (from left to right below) Toshiki Masuda (Ryuu Zaou), Yusuke Shirai (Io Naruko), Kazutomi Yamamoto (Yumoto Hakone), Yuichiro Umehara (En Yufuin), and Koutarou Nishiyama (Atsushi Kinugawa) – toting balloons with their character’s color theme.

There is simply no better way to bank on the appeal of this young and visually-appealing cast by featuring them in their own photobook! Titled “Battle Lovers no Nichijou“, which means “Everyday Lives of Battle Lovers”, the photobook promises shoots in a wide variety of styles, putting them in school uniform, casual wear (house party-style), and even scenes from an onsen (yukata!) and at cleaning duties. With the cast members re-enacting the everyday lives of their characters, there is no doubt that this franchise is going all out to blur the lines between cast and characters.

Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! photo book: Battle Lovers no Nichijou will be released this 29 April 2015. Pre-orders for this photobook are now available via Amazon, and those who pre-order can get themselves a special autographed picture signed by all five seiyuus. It will cost 2,700 yen
