• [NEWS] Shokugeki no Soma casts Toutsuki Culinary Academy alumni


    The official website announced the addition of Yuuichi Nakamura, Takehito Koyasu, and Mamiko Noto as the alumni from the Toutsuki Culinary Academy. Yuuichi Nakamura (Gray Fullbuster in Fairy Tail) will serve as the voice of Kojirou Shinomiya who is a 69th Toutsuki Culinary Academy Alumnus and the head chef and the owner of the French restaurant, Shino’s. He is joined by a fellow alumni, Gin Doujima, voiced by Takehito Koyasu (Kouji Yoshida in Bakuman). Gin Doujima serves as the general head chef and a Board of Directors member for Toutsuki Resort. Voicing the lady head chef & owner of the Japanese restaurant  Kirinoya, Hinako Inui is Mamiko Noto (Felicità in Arcana Famiglia). Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, as previously announced will voice the lead, Souma Yukihira.

    Shokugeki no Soma is a comedy manga series written by Yuuto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki. It began its serialization in Weekly Shounen Jump magazine in November 2012. The story begins with Souma (CV:Yoshitsugu Matsuoka), a middle school student who aspires one day to take over their family’s restaurant, Yukihira , and to defeat and surpass his father’s cooking skills. He hosts cooking battles with his father, Jouichirou Yukihira (CV: Rikiya Koyama), daily but he always gets defeated. One day, his father enrolls him in Toutsuki Culinary Academy, the country’s top culinary school with a 10% graduation rate. His father beckons him to get stronger and graduate from that school. They will settle the score again once Souma graduates.

    The opening theme song, “Kibou no Uta” will be performed by ULTRATOWER and the ending theme song, “Spice“, will be performed by Tokyo Karan Koron.

    The series will be airing this coming Spring anime season on 4 April 2015.
