• [EVENT] Anime Japan 2015: Durarara!! Stage

The Durarara!!x 2 Shou stage event was held at the Anime Japan Red Stage on 21 March, featuring appearances by it’s star-studded cast – Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Mikado Ryugamine), Miyuki Sawashiro (Celty Sturlson), Mamoru Miyano (Masaomi Kida), Hiroshi Kamiya (Izaya Orihara), Daisuke Ono (Shizuo Heiwajima), as well as Jun Fukuyama (Shinra Kishitani). Unfortunately, Kana Hanazawa was not present at the stage event.

Toshiyuki Toyonaga served as host for this event. “It has been 5 years since the last Durarara!! event,” remarked Jun Fukuyama. Since it has also been 5 years since the last recording for the Durarara!! series, coming back for the new season posed some physical problems for the cast. For example, Toyonaga was asked to retake some parts due to his voice sounding too “old”.

The event mainly showcased the upcoming movie, “Durarara!! x 2 Shou Gaiden Episode 4.5 My Heart is Like a Hotpot”, which will be screening in 10 cinemas across Japan, starting from 30 Mar 2015. The theme song for this movie, “Reason…” will be sung by none other than Toshiyuki Toyonaga. Hiroshi Kamiya, upon hearing this news, gave Toyonaga a shirt that read “NO REASON” that Toyonaga actually wore to the event. As the character, Izaya, will not be appearing in the upcoming movie, a clip was screened, showing Izaya eating Hotpot by himself.    izaya hot pot

The next segment was “Durara Writing”, in which the seiyuus were supposed to come up with interesting catch phrases for the upcoming movie, and the person who came up with the best phrase would receive a “Shinra Earthen Pot”. In the end, Jun Fukuyama won the contest, and received the “Shinra Earthen Pot”. After that, each of the cast members delivered their respective short speeches, and the stage event came to a close.
