• [JMOVIE] Parasyte invasion in Singapore!

The world is being invaded but no one knows about it. These invaders have assimilated into our society. They live amongst us, eat with us, and join us in our daily lives. Who are these invaders, and are they  friend or a foe?

Parasyte is a science fiction horror manga from Hitoshi Iwaaki. This manga was serialized in Morning Open Zoukan from 1988- 1995. The series revolves around Shinichi Izumi, played by Shota Shimetani (Watanuki Kimihiro in the live action adaptation of XXXHolic ) ,very much your normal average high school student. One day, he wakes up with a pain in his right arm, but brushed it off  and went on with his daily life. It was only when Shinichi had to protect himself from a bully when his right arm manifested an unequivocal strength. His right arm has been taken “hostage” by a sentient and intelligent parasitic alien life form, able to shape shift at will. Now, Shinichi must learn to co-exist with this parasite which is conveniently called “Migi”, avoid being discovered, and fend off anyone that may pose as a threat. Joining Shimetani-san are Ai Hashimoto (Mei Misaki in the live action movie Another) who plays Shinichi’s classmate and interest, Satomi Murano, and Eri Fukatsu (Rika Miyama in Change) who plays Shinichi’s teacher, Ryouko Tamiya. Migi will be voiced by Abe Sadao (Archaeologist in Yatterman). This movie will be shown as a two-part in Japan on 29 November 2014 and on 25 April 2015.

Encore films will be bringing the movie to Singapore on 15 January 2015.

As a bonus, the live-action film’s official website announced that  a series of short clips, entitled “Migi no Sekai o Oshiete“, will be broadcasted on NTV’s news program ZIP!, from 10 to 28November. This 15-episode series will be centred on Migi‘s daily life as he studies human behaviour.

The anime adaptation of Parasyte, starring Shimazaki Nobunaga as Shinichi and Aya Hirano as Migi is currently airing on Animax and Crunchyroll.
