• [GAME] E3 2014: Microsoft steps up their game for E3!

Today is the first day of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Exposition or E3 at Los Angeles! At 12:30 am GMT+8, Microsoft’s Xbox Press Conference was held and here are the highlights from the event!

The first title to be shown is Activision’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. A long gameplay trailer was shown featuring the new tech going into the game. The DLC for the game will be coming first to Xbox One as per the norm of previous Call of Duty titles.
    Release Date: 4 November 2014

[hr] As for the Forza series, the developer for Forza Motorsport 5 mentioned that the famous Nurburgring track will be available as download content (DLC) and it is available now for all owners of Forza Motorsport 5.  Forza Horizon 2 will now have 200 cars appearing in the game, with 1000 player races and open world freedom. There will also be dynamic weather, seamless multiplayer mode, and dedicated servers, all running on 1080p on Xbox One.
    Release date: 13 September 2014.

[hr] Another upcoming exclusive title coming to Xbox One is Insomniac Games Sunset Overdrive. Taking a jab at the gritty colour palette of other shooter titles, Sunset is an  action game with a vibrant colour palette and fun 8-player co-op mode.
    Release date: 28 October 2014.

[hr] Up next is Evolve from Turtle Rock Studios. The trailer runs through the classes available in the game as well as giving a sneak peek of one of the new monsters! The Beta will be coming exclusively to Xbox One and DLC will be appearing first on Xbox One as well.
    Release Date: 21 October 2014

[hr] New DLC for Dead Rising 3 was announced called the “Super Ultra Dead Rising 3′ Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + α“. Another game title taking a jab at an older game, this update spoofs the Street Fighter games with their extremely ridiculous naming sense. The update adds the cast of the older Dead Rising games to Dead Rising 3 along with a variety of costumes from many of Capcom’s other titles from their rich history in a hilarious arcade setting.
    Release date: Available now.

[hr] Dance Central Spotlight and Fantasia: Music Evolved were  announced by Harmonix. Both titles are exclusive to Xbox. Not much is known about Dance Central Spotlight at the moment but  will be releasing  as a digital title this fall exclusively on the Xbox One. Fantasia: Music Evolved is a rhythm music game with a Disney spin based on the original 1940 movie Fantasia.
Dance Central Spotlight release date: Fall 2014

Fantasia Release date: 21 October 2014 for both Xbox platforms

[hr] The next title is Fable Legends. It will have 4-player co-op as shown in the gameplay trailer with the ability to play as the villain, masterminding the entire map and controlling the fates of the 4 heroes like a MALEVOLENT GOD. A multiplayer beta is set to be released this year.
    Release date: Fall 2014

[hr] The first new IP unveiled at the event comes from Moon Studios. It is called Ori and the Blind Forest which seems to be a sidescrolling action platform with an art style similar to Child of Light.
Release date: Fall 2014 for Xbox platforms and PC

[hr] Playdead, the makers of the hit title Limbo, showed a new trailer for the next title Inside. It is similar in style to Limbo in style with 2D environments with characters moving in the background.
Release date: First half of 2015, first on Xbox One

[hr] A couple of new indie titles were shown at the [email protected] showcase. Here are some of the upcoming titles: Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, Plage Inc Evolved, Massive Chalice, Aztez, Night Squad, QHite Knight, Earthlock and more.

[hr] Two older Xbox IPs will be getting new games on the Xbox One. The first will be original Xbox title Phantom Dust and the second is Crackdown! Here are the trailers! No release timeframe has been given for both titles.

[hr] One new Japanese exclusive title was shown as well from Platinum Games‘ Hideki Kamiya. Taking cues from Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry this new Xbox game is called Scalebound. The game seems to be the usual crazy fanfare from Platinum Games! No release date timeframe is known yet.

[hr] Last but not least, the moment everyone was waiting for, Halo! The first proper trailer for Halo 5: Guardians was revealed as well as for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The collection will feature Halo 1-4 with Halo 2 getting the Anniversary treatment. Every multiplayer map from all the games will be making a return in their original forms. Lastly, Halo Nightfall, a live action series was revealed. It is to be directed by Ridley Scott and it is available with purchases of the Master Chief Collection.
Release date: Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming 11 November 2014. Additionally, a beta code of Halo 5 will be included in all copies of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The beta will go live on December 2014.

That is all the big news coming from Microsoft’s Xbox E3 Press Conference! This year, Microsoft really stepped up their game for E3, showing tons and tons of game titles with almost zero mention of the Kinect. They definitely got their priorities right this year and I enjoy watching all these new titles. I don’t even have a Xbox One and I don’t plan to get one in the near future but if I do, I’m definitely getting Sunset Overdrive, Scalebound and the Master Chief Collection!

So what do you guys think of Microsoft’s E3 conference this year? Do you like their new focus on games or did you want to see more non core game content? Share your thoughts below!
