Just last Saturday, we are able to attend the World Premier of “ The After Dinner Mysteries ” movie in Singapore.
The main cast of the film attended the premier to the delight of lucky fans. They got to meet Keiko Kitagawa, Sho Sakurai and Shiina Kippei in person at a special Red Carpet event and Screening, held at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
Below is a report by a Japanese News Program and a few of our very own pictures.
“The After Dinner Mysteries”, stars many big names with the likes of Kaname Jun, Namase Katsuhisa and Shimura Ken. That is on top of the main cast Sho Sakurai, Keiko Kitagawa and Shiina Kippei and is simply not a movie that should be missed, especially if you love the drama series.
It generally follows the TV Drama’s formula of making things loud and funny, not surprising since it’s done by the same crew of people, including Director Hijikata Masato. But this time everything just got trickier.
Not to spoil the plot, the movie contains exciting scenes, that got a lot more complicated coupled with hilarious actions by various actors/actress; It easily throws even the most seasoned fans off, leaving the audience asking for more verbal abuse by Kageyama and Reiko’s excessive theat. You got to admit it, that one of the highlights.
At this point, it must be mentioned that the cast for this movie genuinely provided much more of the entertainment than I thought possible. Some throwing smokescreens all over the place, while the other kept the movie in a light-hearted mood. So here’s some credit to them.
Special mention to Nanami Sakuraba acting as a Singer on board the cruise ship, she is perhaps the most innocent of all. But she almost stole the limelight from Keiko with her acting and youth. According to Wikipedia, she is only 19! I’ll be looking forward to more of her works.
On another note, the beautiful sceneries featuring Singapore and the Star Cruise Virgo, cheekily named Princess Reiko in the movie, is another reason to watch the movie.
Audiences can expect to see sites most representative of Singapore namely the Raffles Hotel, MBS, and how can I not mention the Merlion. As for onboard the Star Cruise Virgo, the majestic boat is featured from multiple angles from the Leisure deck to the laundry deck, truly an eye opener.
Last but not least, there is the final scene containing the sharp tongue butler, Kageyama, and his master, Reiko Hoshou, should never to be missed especially if you are a big fan of either Sho Sakurai or Keiko Kitagawa.
Despite having such a high entertainment value, “The After Dinner Mysteries” also conveys a message to the audience, and quoting Director Hijikata Masato at the Singapore premiere.
“Even though they are not blood related, the feelings and the love from the child to her parent are real.”
So true, I tear up quite badly at the revelation and the subsequent scenes. Confused? Then please watch the movie to find out.
